Rogue State: @WhiteHouse Jokes About Assassinating Foreign Leaders

At the end of the May 2, 2011 White House press briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney joked about assassinating Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi.

Q    Jay, almost lost in this news is the NATO strike against Qaddafi’s compound on Saturday, where his son was killed and three of his grandchildren.  Is it — does the White House believe that that mission was in keeping with carrying out the U.N. resolution?

MR. CARNEY:  Yes.  And I think there have been ample — there’s been ample commentary about that from NATO.  So we do believe that, and obviously continue to focus on that mission as we do on other missions.

Q    Is there a message there to Qaddafi in this?

MR. CARNEY:  You could say that.  (Laughter.)  Thank you.

AG Holder: Why Don’t You Point Your Sting/Entrapment Operations at WASPs?

I don’t think we have enough information yet to know the motives behind the murders in Arizona January 8, 2011.

The suspect in custody, 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, is a white male with no suspicious ethnic or religious tendencies, i.e. he’s not one of those white Eastern European Muslims or Orthodox Christians.

Some people are speculating on whether or not political rhetoric of politicians and pundits like She-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named and Rush “Oxycontin” Limbaugh should be condemned in the wake of this crime.

I believe, in an ideal world, politics would not use military metaphors. But any attempt to control political rhetoric would not work.

I am in favor of gun control. If Mr. Loughner was crazy, as the USA political right is now claiming, why was he able to purchase a weapon so easily?

Note that lack of mental health services may also be a lesson from this tragedy.

But the real purpose of this post is to ask why the FBI and Attorney General Holder waste so much time and money entrapping young Muslim men in the USA for terrorism charges.

Mahmoud Omar [the informer of the Fort Dix case] was paid over $200,000 plus expenses for the three years that the FBI hired him to befriend the young men who had gone to the Poconos and record their conversations. (emphasis added)

It seems like there are enough politically confused, emotionally unstable white people who are perfectly willing to kill on their own. Imagine how many convictions of marginally functioning WASPs the FBI could have made with informants being paid $200,000 and working three years.

I also want to know how many people are “uncomfortable” when seeing white males, displaying their white male identity through their clothing, appear at political events and museums and private airports.

I think I should add here that I oppose all of these sting/entrapment operations in cases where the informer is pushing people over the edge and manipulating them into law-breaking. If the FBI identifies people who are like this, their family members should be notified and mental health and other assistance offered.

Deporting almost 800,000 illegal immigrants might antagonize some Democrats and Latino voters, Obama’s skeptical supporters said the president told them, but stepped-up enforcement was the only way to buy credibility with Republicans and generate bipartisan support for an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws.
